Committee Introduction
The Global Esports Federation (GEF) is a non-governmental organization that convenes the world's esports (or competitive video gaming) community. It was established on December 16, 2019, and is headquartered in Singapore. The Global Esports Federation promotes the credibility, legitimacy and prestige of esports on a worldwide scale and currently hosts 120+ member federations from around the world. The agenda item of GEF committee is “Esports in the Olympics: Should Competitive Gaming Become a Recognized Olympic Sport?” Delegates are expected to show full awareness of current status and arguments for and against inclusion. Delegates will represent member states and stakeholders in GEF committee and they should come up with practical frameworks such as selection criteria for Olympic-eligible esports, governance mechanisms, youth and inclusivity focus and partnerships.
